There’s plenty to be proud of in Galway Bay Rugby this week, with three of our own called up to the Connacht U19 squad for the upcoming summer programme and Interprovincial series.

Dylan Curran, James Siva and John Brendan McDonell have all been selected as part of an extended training group that will run over the next eight weeks. It’s a serious achievement at this level and a reflection of the work being put in both at club and school level.
The programme will build towards a busy run of fixtures later in the summer, with a challenge match scheduled for July 22nd in Dexcom Stadium against a Munster/Exiles side. From there, attention turns to the Interpros in August:
- Munster (Away) – 15th August
- Leinster (Home) – 22nd August
- Ulster (Away) – 29th August
There was already a sign of things to come earlier this month when Dylan Curran was named captain for the Connacht U19 fixture against Ulster in Clongowes. Unfortunately, that game fell victim to the fuel protests, but it says a lot about the regard he’s held in within the setup.
From a Galway Bay perspective, it’s another positive sign that the pathway is working. Producing players capable of stepping into provincial squads doesn’t happen by accident — it comes from consistent coaching, good habits, and lads willing to put the work in when no one’s watching.
Best of luck to Dylan, James and JB over the summer.
