Historic Day for Galway Bay Rugby as Dylan Curran Starts for Connacht Eagles
From U7 rugby in McGrath’s Field to starting at out-half for the Connacht Eagles at just 18 years of age.

Saturday will be a hugely proud day for Galway Bay Rugby as 18-year-old Dylan Curran becomes the first player to come through the club to play at senior level for Connacht.
Dylan will start at out-half for the Connacht Eagles against Ulster A at 2pm on Saturday, 5th September, at Dexcom Stadium, ahead of Connacht’s senior pre-season friendly against Ealing Trailfinders.
From Spiddal to Dexcom Stadium
A native of Spiddal and currently in his Leaving Cert year at Coláiste Chroí Mhuire, Dylan has played with Galway Bay since U7, starting his rugby journey in McGrath’s Field.
It has always been a family affair. Dylan was coached for many years by his dad Paul, while his mum Tina is a former Galway Bay Rugby PRO. His younger brother Adam and sister Natalie have also played for the club.
Through the Connacht Pathway
Dylan has progressed through the Connacht age-grade pathway and has been the starting out-half for the
Connacht U19s during this season’s Interprovincial Championship.
His selection for the Eagles represents another major step in that journey, with Dylan now getting his opportunity at senior level while still only 18 years of age.
A Landmark Moment for Galway Bay Rugby
For a young club like Galway Bay, this is a massive milestone. Dylan is from the oldest group of players to have come right through our underage system, and to see one of that generation now starting for the Connacht Eagles is a very proud moment for everyone who has helped build the club.
